Courtney is experienced sewist and clothing designer who loves to teach people how to sew clothing, home decor, bags, and crafts. She can also teach you how to dye your own fabric with synthetic or natural dyes.
Courtney loves teaching people how to sew and empowering them with the ability to make and create. She has taught private lessons and workshops to teenagers and adults for four years and has also worked as a teaching assistant for college art courses. Courtney is committed to creating learning experiences that are fun, supportive, and engaging for every student. Her studio is LGBTQ+ friendly and affirming of people of all identities.

Get lessons customized to your skill level and interest, whether you’re an absolute beginner or want advance to more complex projects. Lessons are focused on helping students develop skills and techniques for creating quality, long-lasting pieces and advancing as a sewist.

Courtney teaches teens and adults, and typically teaches one or two people at a time. Lessons for small groups or special events can be arranged upon request. Lessons can take place at Sunday Shift’s studio in Durham or at the student’s home (within a 15-mile radius of Durham).
Hourly lesson rate: $40 for one person, $60 for two people

Travel fee: $10 for travel to a lesson beyond a 15-mile radius of Durham
